I was lucky enough to get a ride into Riverton today with Evelyn as she has a physio appointment and I am going to explore the town. I passed through on my way to Saddleworth and wanted to see more. The streetscape is dotted with amazing old buildings and a museum.

Riverton is in the Mid North of South Australia, on the Gilbert River, and was settled in 1856 along the bullock track from Burra in the North to Adelaide in the South. Adelaide is only 94 kilometres away. There is a Pioneer Park on the main street dedicated to all who have settled this district – James Masters, an early pioneer has a monument dedicated to him and his wife. In the back of the garden is a heritage cemetry – containing headstones which have been re-sited from around the district. The streets are named in the pioneers honour. I really enjoyed exploring this quaint town, and hope the photos do it justice.
